The KaIND Story
The idea of KaIND all started from a conversation between Amanda and Kyle. Amanda and Kyle met sitting next to each other on an airplane in October 2022. They started to connect by discussing their connections with cancer, but throughout the plane ride, they discovered a lot more about each other's interests and desires to give back. Through this conversation, the idea to establish a nonprofit began. After Amanda returned back to the USA after that trip, Amanda began brainstorming what the nonprofit would focus its mission on.
Through further discovery, Amanda wanted to focus her nonprofit's mission on being of service and continuing the legacy of Kai, her beloved Labrador retriever who passed unexpectedly in April 2022, of cancer. Amanda and Kai began as a team, where Kai was Amanda's trained service dog for C-PTSD. Once Amanda felt like her symptoms had greatly improved, she retired Kai as her service dog after 4 years, however, Kai still needed work. This is when Amanda and Kai became a therapy dog team. Amanda and Kai worked for 3 years serving children and adolescents in after school programs and through addiction and mental health treatment programs.
Experiencing Kai's natural ability to serve Amanda, then witnessing Kai's ability to naturally serve others, has been one of Amanda's greatest blessings in life. Kai was always so naturally kind, to every human, every animal, to every being. Because of Kai’s impact, Amanda wanted to continue her and Kai's legacy of service through spreading kindness, and this is where KaIND was born.
